Today I woke up early and started getting ready for the day. I got dressed in my interview outfit and packed the outfit I would need for the dancing part of the audition. When I arrived at the arena a few girls had already arrived ahead of me for their scheduled interviews.
We all sat talking. I remember talking to Kaytie and Melissa and really hoping to have the chance to get to know them better. All together about 30 girls made it to this second day of tryouts.
When it was time for my interview I was escorted upstairs where Maggie and Kip were waiting to interview me. The interview went really well. They asked all kinds of questions. They asked about past jobs, and ultimately why I wanted to be a part of the Suns Dancers. I thought my interview went really well.
After the interview I went downstairs where we had our first individual photo shoot. I was really looking forward to this part of the day. The photo shoot was fun but a little nerve wracking. It’s hard to get up in front of a camera and not have the urge to laugh, at least for me it is. I have a hard time taking myself seriously.
After the photo shoot we all were sent to the locker room where we could change and practice the routine. Everyone was pretty nervous. We also used this time to socialize and meet the other girls.
Not long after changing and running through the routine a few times we were called onto the court where we performed for the judges a few last times. I went for every motion with every ounce of energy and strength I had. I really just tried to have fun and let my personality and drive shine through.
When we were done dancing, Maggie thanked us for coming and giving our best at the tryout. Then she told us that we would have to call the hotline at 6 o’clock to hear whether or not we had earned a spot on the 2006-2007 Phoenix Suns Dance Team. I couldn’t wait.
When I got home I did a lot of cleaning to keep myself busy. Unfortunately my house wasn’t that messy and at 5 p.m. I couldn’t think of anything else to do but sit and watch TV. The hour passed so slowly and finally at 6 p.m. I called the hotline. Once again I was greeted by Maggie’s voice, and then she started reading the names. I heard Dani, Taryn, a few others and then “Amanda.” Me?! I couldn’t believe it! I then kept listening and I heard “Nicole.” I couldn’t have been more excited. I called all my friends and family and told them the news. I was now officially a Suns Dancer!

I was wondering, what strives you to become a Suns Dancer??? I'm moving to Phoenix in a couple of months to try out and I've never wanted something so badly?!

This entry is so inspiring. I am thinking about auditioning this year and this let me know exactly how it goes. I want to be a Phoenix Suns dancer, mostly because I love the Suns!!!! Keeping my eyes on the prize, its our year!!! Anyways, I also love dancing, so why not dance for my favorite team?!?!?! Right? ;)

Amanda your entry has given me so much inspiration to do the thing that I love most, to be able to watch the best sport in the world and to be the backbone to the best team in the NBA!!!! (LET'S GO SUNS)!!! I love to dance and to entertain it is truly my passion. I never really got into to much ballroom dancing or anything of that nature just basically in front of my mirror and the dance and varsity cheer squads at my school, but it is truly something that I love to do and I have nothing to lose but so much to gain. Well remember my name because I cannot wait to see you there!!! Good luck to everyone this year @ tryouts!!! GO SUNS!!!
